A Return to Roots: a Russian house in Sergey Yesenin’s homeland

On the high bank of the Oka River, in the very heart of the historic village of Konstantinovo, a remarkable dialogue between eras unfolds, captured in architectural form. The core idea of this project stems from a desire to preserve and hold onto the fleeting beauty of traditional Russian architecture and delicately weave it into the rhythm of modern life—without false folk kitsch. Through careful reconstruction and expansion, a modest village house imbued with the spirit of the land was transformed into a prestigious country residence. The project not than merely complied with the strict aesthetic regulations of a protected historic settlement; it became an organic part of the famous "Esenin" landscape.

The architecture of the estate is woven from contrasts that paradoxically give rise to absolute harmony. Its historic heart is an impeccably restored brick volume adorned with carved window trims and framed by an intricate carved fence, surrounded by centuries-old birch trees.
