The project is dedicated to the revitalisation of the territory of the former marble and limestone plant as part of Ruskeala Mountain Park — a unique natural-industrial landscape with pronounced relief, rock outcrops, and surviving elements of industrial infrastructure. Historically, a marble complex developed here for more than 250 years, linked to the extraction and processing of stone for some of Russia's most significant structures; however, after the plant closed in the 1990s, the territory was left as an abandoned industrial landscape.
The "Marble Route" concept proceeds from the idea that the project site, like a marble massif, fractures into several "shards" that remain parts of a single whole. All these "shards" are united by a single route — a sequential scenario of visitor movement: from perceiving the territory as an integral quarry to a more detailed examination of individual elements of industrial heritage.
