Project
Renovation of the Royal Belgian Museum of Natural Sciences
Nomination
Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition
About the project
In the museology of today quality prevails over quantity.
For this reason as for many technical reasons the Belgian Royal Museum of Natural Sciences has been completely renovated starting with the addition of a new circulation scheme, the research laboratories and the archives. This enabled a phased renovation of the museum itself starting with the Gallery of the Dinosaurs (the spectacular collection of Iguanodons of Bernissart). The next phase was the restoration and new lay out in the Gallery of the Evolution. Recently the “Living Planet”, the last section opened its doors. Together with the “BiodiverCity” hall – on biodiversity in the city – (opened in 2010) this hall of the “Living Planet” hosts the Biodiversity exhibition of the Museum.
