Rural Arts Museum of Zhushan County

Best Architectural Design for Museum
About the project (provided by the applicant)
Nestled in the mountainous landscapes of China’s Shandong province, the Rural Arts Museum will create an atmosphere of unity with folk art and nature, allowing visitors to experience the true spirit of rural life, its culture, and traditions. Subtly embedded into the landscape, the restrained and sculptural form of the museum reflects its connection to the secluded rural culture, frozen in time and inner tranquility.
Local myths speak of the landscape as an act of love between deities, and our aim was to preserve this love as it has always been, allowing the new architectural form to blend into the winding hills. Thus, our challenge was to integrate the building into its surroundings as seamlessly as possible while speaking the language of contemporary architecture, respecting the history of the place without negating its context.
