Saabaat Mall Complex

The Saabaat Commercial and Recreational Complex is large-scale project for a broad public audience situated within underprivileged urban contexts and shaped by economic constraints. The site is a -10,000square-meter, double fronted plot located along the main boulevard of Hassanabad-e Fashafuyeh, a city on the southern edge of Tehran. This area has entered a path of rapid development in recent years, yet it still remains among the less-developed urban areas. On one hand, the influx of job-seeking migrants to the outskirts of the capital, and on the other, the low level of local income, have caused these cities—despite their high population density— to suffer from a serious lack of adequate recreational, cultural, and leisure facilities. In this context, a number of local industrialists and landowners, deeply rooted in these territories, have sought to contribute to the revitalization of their cities by investing in public and civic projects.
