A school with a capacity of 825 students

OKLA School in Saint Petersburg is a modern educational institution for 825 students, designed with its unique natural surroundings and specialized academic focus in mind. The site is located next to the Novoorlovsky Nature Reserve, while chemistry and biology have become the school’s key areas of specialization. This connection with nature and science formed the basis of the architectural concept.

The school’s image is built around the metaphor of a molecule: separate elements come together into a unified system, creating a complete “living organism.” The architecture of the building supports this idea: three volumes flow smoothly into one another, while rounded corners, horizontal bands of glazing, and the expressive sculptural quality of the façades create a dynamic and recognizable appearance.

Special attention is given to detail: vertical stained-glass elements and green panels highlight the stairwells, while a periodic table of chemical elements is placed on the façade. The name of the district, O K La, is encoded in it and also appears above the main entrance.
