About the project (provided by the applicant)
Nestled between mountain views and dense forest, Seriema House embodies contrast — open and luminous on one side, intimate and shaded on the other.
Inspired by the graceful Seriemas birds that roam the site, the house is designed as a space for contemplation, gathering, and poetry. A curving black stone wall divides the home into two realms: A vibrant social space, bathed in light and music, overlooking the mountains; and a peaceful retreat, shaded by the forest, dedicated to rest and introspection.
The locally sourced portuguese stones anchor the house to its surroundings, reinforcing its connection to the place. More than a shelter, Seriema House is an experience between time, place, and poetry.
