Shell-Ter: A Fibonacci-Driven Bioclimatic Complex

Set on Abu Musa Island in the Persian Gulf, this housing project uses marine geometries to tackle intense coastal heat and humidity.
The layout follows a Fibonacci spiral derived from local shells and coral reefs. Rather than a purely formal gesture, this curved massing channels prevailing sea breezes deep into the site, driving continuous cross-ventilation through shaded courtyards.

The buildings reinterpret southern Iranian architectural elements: arched pathways (sabats) create shaded pedestrian corridors at ground level, while stair towers double as modern windcatchers sheathed in breathable lattice panels. Deep recesses and porous screens cut solar heat gain while preserving the visual privacy central to regional family life.

Finished in pale, locally tuned microcement, the self-shading blocks frame a fully walkable ground plane designed for daily community life.
