Project
Revitalization design concept for a railway station in Kirovsk

Category
Best Design of Public Space by Student

About the project (provided by the applicant)
The concept envisions a pedestrian axis connecting the city center to the Kirovsk railway station, with access to Bolshoy Vudyavr Lake. The project draws inspiration from the mining industry, reflected in the design of tunnels and the lakeside walking path. Two tunnels, constructed from local Kirovsk apatite, provide seamless passage – one beneath the bypass road and the other under the railway tracks.
The design preserves the remaining ruins of the railway station with a protective hangar, ensuring optimal temperature and lighting inside. The path along the lake includes a rental point, boat station, and pier, transforming the former industrial zone and extending the main pedestrian route from the city to the lake while reimagining the role of the Kirovsk station.
