Storyspace responds to the micro-urban scale of Tangshan's industrial heritage, deeply rooted in the city's heroic spirit & culture. Located between the Douhe & the city center, it revitalizes a desolate cooling tower, transforming it from a relic of industrialization into a symbol of resilience, renewal & cultural vitality. Enhancing the city’s identity, it serves as a micro-museum that elevates the ancient art of storytelling, blending historical and contemporary themes through its interactive features. An evolving space integrating both the city’s heritage and its future potential into the fabric of everyday life.
The challenge lies in reimagining the cooling tower — once a solid monument of the industrial age—into an emblem of collective memory & culture, forming a foundation of a «new tradition», blending past & future into one. Through sustainable materials & technologies, it preserves the structure's historical essence while captivating the imagination within a dreamy interior.
