"A Streetcar Named Desire"

A "Streetcar Named Desire" is a stage production directed by Ekaterina Polovtseva, based on the play by Tennessee Williams, with set design by Emil Kapelyush.

Sometimes, fleeing from a merciless reality, a person can only find refuge within the labyrinths of their own consciousness. The protagonist of this story, Blanche DuBois, is a woman who has created an illusory world outside of time and everyday routine in order to forget the traumas of the past. Her life has turned into a vicious circle where memories refuse to let go and the future is seen through a foggy haze of self-deception. It is a play about the final illusion and the moment when one must make a choice: to continue running or to try to gather the fragments of one's life into a new, albeit far from perfect, picture. Stage designer Emil Kapelyush created a symbolic and functional space: on stage, as in a somnambulistic dream, a set comes to life utilizing mirrored surfaces and reflections that embody Blanche's world of illusions.
