The Wood Element retail store
Category
Best Implemented Project of Public Building or Facility
About the project
Biophilic Architecture & Interior inspired retail Store. The space is designed to reduce carbon footprints & to design an energy-efficient barrier-free building. The concept called for a sinuous representation, offering curated services for wood products and designed carpets. The goal was to minimize waste by crafting items on-request, fostering connections between individuals and nature through innovative design. The south-west façade — A screen of sandstone columns was created casting shadows. Controlled sunlight ensures that the outdoor areas are largely protected from the harsh summer sun. Pockets of courtyards play the dual role of unifying spaces as well as acting as an intervening buffer, positively impacting the indoor air quality. The plants reduce the CO2 emission absorbing it & releasing oxygen reducing the total amount of greenhouse gases. Sit-outs created throughout the retail space encourage social interactions providing the visitor with a multiple experiences and views.
