About the project (provided by the applicant):
Located at the bank of Lappajarvi Lake, the design site has the area of 6.8 hectares. The project includes renovation of the triangular square, premises of the central boiler house, and territory of the ex furniture factory.
The tourist and recreation hub comprises many functional areas, including a tourist center with a garden and a two-level parking, an amphitheater connected to the main square with its commercial premises and the event venue. Moreover, there will be a car and train station near the existing railway with an apartment hotel behind it. The lakeside itself will also be beautified — it will get public ramps getting down to the water, and one of the streets that adjoins the design site will be made vehicle-free.
