Category Best Project of Building or Facility by Student
About the project (provided by the applicant) This two-storey residence was inspired by a terem (Eng. tower-chamber) from Russian fairy tales. Thinking about the Russian izba (Eng. hut), the author decided to reconsider this concept and produce something quite modern. The terem can be built in a Karelian forest and is intended for staying during summer. Thanks to light colors, the building contrasts on its environment. It has some hyperbolized shapes that resemble illustrations from bedtime stories, but the author wasn’t going to produce something unreal or unpractical. That’s why she added to her project panoramic glazing and simple shapes to balance the fantastic associations.
