This thesis project explores the city of Saratov and the redevelopment of its former airport site. The underlying concept establishes a new urban center designed to relieve strain on the existing downtown area—mitigating traffic congestion, overcrowded public transit and streets, and overburdened services—by introducing a multifunctional ecosystem of buildings and public spaces. The scheme introduces new focal points and employment hubs, ensuring the site functions self-sufficiently while serving the broader city of Saratov.
Conceptually, the development marks an "urban takeoff" in both economic and spatial terms. Respecting the history of the site and the city, the former runways are preserved and repurposed into vibrant public spaces. The master plan weaves these elements together through a linear network of public green spaces and recreational zones.
