“Transformation. In Scaffolding / In the Woods”

“Transformation. In Scaffolding / In the Woods” is a completed student architectural installation created as part of the “ARCH-Realization” city festival with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives. The project grantee is the Novosibirsk Union of Architects, and the official partner of the festival is NGASU (Sibstrin).

The installation draws upon the history of Novosibirsk and the imagery of the towers designed by architect A. D. Kryachkov, which became symbols of early Novonikolaevsk and the city's development. The central tower is enclosed within symbolic construction scaffolding, creating a double meaning: a nod to the natural landscape where the city emerged amidst pine forests, and a metaphor for constant construction, growth, and change. Rotating the tower by 45 degrees enhances its visibility and translates the historical motif into a contemporary spatial statement. The wooden structure functions as a small architectural form, a resting spot, and a visual landmark in the urban environment, demonstrating how local architectural memory can be reimagined by students.
