The Centre is located in Tsinghua University (Beijing), where an old power plant used to be.
The treeline runs almost all along the site perimeter. Open spaces make the main building look visually open and can be used to reach the river with the amphitheater there.
In terms of composition, the main building of the ex power plant hasn’t been changed materially. As in typical campuses students hardly have enough place to work, the authors designed lots of venues and places to be used by teachers and students.
Special focus was on the students of art departments – they will get everything they might need from laser cutters to sculpture studios.
