About the project
Saami are the native population of Murmansk. Their culture is full of communicating with nature, as their survival depended on the weather. In their traditional fairy tales, heroes always have to deal with elemental forces. Traditional ornaments have always been used in their houses and clothes, and it was this embelishment pattern that determined the layout of the park. Here and there, you can spot a minor clearing that is not only a place for leisure but an artefact site.
In winter, many festivals take place in Murmansk, people do sports and take part in public promenades, and a park is a great place to make the necessary arrangements. Another highlight of this region is a polar night when lighting patterns become an essential feature in the city’s life.
