About the project
The renovation project included quite an extensive list of works. In particular, 140 m² of the pavilion’s spire were plated with leaf gold, cartouches and medallions were renovated along with the plaster of the facades and the four sculpture groups.
Interiors of the halls were restored to look like in old times. During the works, they discovered some decorative arches in the central halls and removed the plaster that was covering them. The monumental painting in the MTS zone was preserved. In the Mir Hall, 6 grisaille paintings were renovated. The haut relief ‘Long Live the Standard Bearer of Peace, the Soviet People!’ that had been believed to have been lost for 40 (!) years was revealed and restored in the Victory Hall.
During the final stage of works, the pavilion was adjusted to comprise the museum exhibition.
