The architecture of the house transforms downpours from an external force of nature into a design medium that shapes the layout, acoustics, microclimate, and ecological cycle of the site. The core concept draws inspiration from the dynamics of a falling water droplet: from a single unified volume, it shatters into a network of directed streams and splashes, seamlessly adapting to the surface and topography.

At the center of the house lies an open-air courtyard-style living room that interconnects all interior spaces. Its unique feature is an oculus in the center of the roof paired with drainage holes in the floor, allowing rainwater to penetrate directly into the interior and flow away into the currents of a mountain stream.

The structural system comprises a reinforced concrete frame on a pile foundation. Exposed concrete facade walls contrast with expansive floor-to-ceiling panoramic glazing. The curved roof structure is built from metal framing, clad in timber planking and flexible shingles. The terraces are crafted as lightweight timber structures, serving as a distinct reference to traditional Japanese engawa.
