Visitor center at Samursky National Park

Category

Best Implemented Project of Temporary or Permanent Museum Exposition

About the project (provided by the applicant)

The visitor center's building is constructed from laminated veneer lumber, featuring impressive high ceilings of approximately 8 meters at the ridge. The primary goal of the project is to showcase the diverse beauty of the national park.

The permanent exhibition offers a journey through thematic blocks representing various parts of the park. It begins with Shalbuzdag, a mountainous region. Visitors then traverse a liana forest to explore the Delta of the Samur River.

On the first floor, the focus shifts to the historical and cultural heritage of Samursky National Park. Dagestan folklore, cultural and historical monuments, the peoples of southern Dagestan – these topics are shown through interactive multimedia and supplemented by a number of artifacts collected from local communities. The mezzanine above the multi-purpose hall features a reconstructed Lezgin saklya, providing a comprehensive conclusion to the visitor experience.
