Project
Restoration of Uglich

Nomination
Best Architectural Project by a Student

About the project
The image of the marina is based on Pavilion of Reflections presented at 2016 Manifesta in Zürich.
The author found inspiration in traditional Russian wooden architecture and Constructivist buildings of the early 20th century. Brick masonry of the Uglich Dukes’ Palace (1482), one of the oldest buildings of Ancient Rus, made the author especially enthusiastic. Its rhythm was transferred to the newly designed facades.

The concept “Uglich – a museum city” implies building of a united tourist route with attractions to explore and see. Besides their basic functions architectural facilities work as sight-seeing platforms, from where you can enjoy the best views of historical spots.
