Novgorod architecture is a rare chronicle of the history of Rus in the completeness of its stone pages, in which Yaroslav’s Court occupies a unique place, successively revealing the history of our country — from the reign of Mstislav the Great at the dawn of the 12th century, through the waves of veche republican rule, to the history of the unified Russian state.
The large-scale restoration of the monuments of Yaroslav’s Court within the framework of the National Project “Culture,” their museification and the landscaping carried out by the regional government have opened new opportunities for the complex. Monuments that had stood closed for years have been given a new life. The belfry of St. Nicholas Cathedral, silent since the times of the revolutionary turmoil, has regained its voice. Since June 2025 the museum has opened five new exhibitions at once. Exhibition spaces that are completely different in form and content are united into a single cluster by the theme of spiritual and Christian art, harmoniously, carefully and at the same time very contemporarily integrated into the medieval interiors.
