The musical production Yesenin was presented to audiences in St. Petersburg on October 24 and 25, 2025, on the stage of the Palace of Arts of the Leningrad Region.
At the heart of the story is the fate of the great Russian poet, who was called the last poet of the village, a rebel and a prophet, a genius and a reveler. His poems were sung in taverns and quoted in salons; they were read with admiration by peasants and intellectuals alike, feared by the authorities, and adored by women.
Sergei Yesenin lived only thirty years, yet he became the voice of an entire era. Russia always lived in the poet’s soul — close and dear to him; in its landscapes and images, he found inspiration for his most sincere works. Yesenin’s love poetry and his poignant lines about the Motherland have outlived their time and continue to touch people’s hearts.
Today, the fate of the artist — swift, full of feeling, passion, and tragedy — comes to life in the musical production Yesenin by the F. I. Chaliapin Music Theatre, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the poet’s birth and the 100th anniversary of his passing.
