Zest cafe

Zest Café transforms an abandoned rental villa in Karimabad, Shahsavar, into a youth-oriented social hub within a seasonal neighborhood lacking urban vitality. Rather than treating the project as a simple change of use, the design redefines the private–public relationship and activates the villa’s existing capacities through a new social and cultural program. The café’s boundary becomes a permeable urban–social edge that encourages pause, gathering, and connection with neighborhood life. The program expands through a Co-Creation Box for collaborative events and a Social Box for dialogue and networking. Circulation shifts from a centralized model to a distributed fluid system that promotes movement, discovery, and interaction across interior, exterior, open, and semi-open spaces. Under rental and budget constraints, reused scaffolding, metal pipes, mesh, and aluminum panels form a low-cost flexible shell that creates a new identity while remaining connected to the existing villa fabric.
