
Evgeny Nikonorov was born in 1964.
He graduated from the Interior Design Faculty of the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry (MGHPA) in 1992.
From 1993 to 1995, he interned under the chief artist of the Lenkom Theatre, Professor Oleg Sheyntsis of the Moscow Art Theatre School-Studio.
He pursued acting and directing. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as a production designer at the Mayakovsky Theatre. From 1999 to 2005, he served as the chief artist of the Debut Center at the Central House of Actors named after A.A. Yablochkina and of the theater festival «Moscow Debuts.»
He has designed sets and costumes for 80 productions in theaters across Moscow, Russia, and internationally. Some of these works have been recognized by the professional community, won awards, and remained—or continue to remain—in the theaters' repertoires for extended periods.
He is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, the Union of Artists of Russia, the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Geographical Society.
He is a laureate of Gold and Honourable Mention Certificates of the International Golden Trezzini Awards in the category « Best Implemented Theatre Set Design.» He is also a diploma holder of the Russian Academy of Arts. An active participant in professional exhibitions, including several solo shows, he teaches at the Moscow Film School of the Universal University of Creative Industries and heads a course at the Higher School of Performing Arts.
Mr. Nikonorov is the art director of one of Moscow's galleries.
