Category Best Art in Outdoor Public Space
About the project (provided by the applicant) Aircraft designers Nikolay Kamov and Mikhail Mil were both born in Irkutsk and put a dent in the universe. The author of the project wondered how come two remarkable designers were born in Irkutsk and was really surprised to learn about the local legend. According to it, the local river Irkut, which gave name to the entire city, is the Buryat word for whirlpool, or circle. This way, the designers had to be born in this city.
The memorial is based on a figure of a helicopter taking off located against the sky background. The materials used are bronze and granite.
