About the project
The project's initial premise is based on its location on the site, and its relation to the history of the Brazilian Military Dictatorship in the city of São Paulo. To enter the building, one must first enter the ditch where the history of the regime is hidden. The project mostly resides underground and marks São Paulo's hidden but vivid connection to the repressive Brazilian period.
However, from the ditch emerges a monolith, a landmark in the landscape. The exhibition rises. In the bowels of the tower reside the stories of the resisters. The monolith is off-axis, inclined towards the Military Police headquarters, a tenuous representation between the confrontation with repression and the unbalance caused to democracy by the repressors. Finally, it is a representation of the instability of Brazilian democracy.
