Project New building of the State Tretyakov Gallery
Category Best Architectural Design for Museum
About the project (provided by the applicant) The main facade of the building outlooks the Kadashevskaya Embankment and can be viewed as a metaphor of the museum function performed by the Gallery - it repeats the perfectly recognizable layout of the paintings by Pavel Tretyakov, the Gallery founder. Differently sized windows with wide frames represent the paintings. Along the facade public premises of the museum are located, namely the entrance hall, the cafe, restaurants, and shops, so much sunlight is an advantage there.
