About the project
The Yelagin Palace being the centerpiece of the palace and park ensemble at the Yelagin Island was built under Carlo Rossi in 1818 to 1822.
In 2016 through 2020, its internal premises on the 1st and the 2nd floors were totally restored, including the family chapel of St Nicholas the Wonderworker. The original interiors of Alexander I’s study was completely restored, including the marble fireplace. The works included restoration of the paintings, gilded and stucco elements, parquet floors, as well as heavy silk and embroideries on the walls. The front enfilade was restored, too, which included the paintings, the faux marble, gilded and stucco elements, silk on the walls and bronze decorations of the front doors.
