Project:
Robot Science Museum
Nomination:
Best Museum Architectural Design
About the project:
The Seoul Metropolitan Government called for the ideas to design World’s first pioneer Robot Science Museum (RSM) in the center of the renovation area ‘the Changbai New Economic Center’ to support public education in robotics and increase the public knowledge and interests in robots.
RSM which plays a catalytic role in advancing and promoting science, technology and innovation throughout society is not only going to exhibit robots but actually from design, manufacturing to construction and services robots will be in charge. In other words, RSM will start its ‘first exhibition’ with ‘its own construction’ by robots on site.
Considering the universality of science and technology, prioritizing the advanced architectural
design solutions for such a pioneering museum with a subject of innovation and robots
gains a special meaning. RSM serves as a base for spreading the science culture by providing
opportunities to experience the latest robotics technologies.
Location:
Seoul, South Korea.
Why the project is worth winning the Awards:
MAA’s design proposal is focused on developing an architectural language through the use of contemporary fabrication technologies and robotic construction methodologies. Today, AI and robotics are the most innovative topics to shape the future. These methodologies ideally would allow a rich exchange of relations between its robots in construction, robots in service, robots exhibited and their visitors.
RSM is not only going to exhibit robots but actually from design, manufacturing, construction to services robots will be in charge. In other word RSM will start its ‘first exhibition’ with the ‘its own construction’ by robots on site.
The construction process of RSM will become a unique experience and will be monitored real time onsite and offsite. That’s how all the process will transform itself into monitoring and learning center. RSM will be a case study for future of Robotic Construction Methodology and thesis project to many upcoming research documentations. RSM will archive this process and the technological development to educate young generations for future about robotics and AI. RSM will monitor, archive and give it to the people. That’s how RSM will show to the world the future.
