About the project Considering the traditional architecture in Kashan and the use of a combined system of windbreaks and windbreaks, we tried to find a solution by designing this architecture and modernizing this system to design a sustainable residential complex.
Wind-catchers are used to provide comfort in hot and dry climates. Many studies focused on the wind- catcher element features, such as height, type or the cross-sectional area of the wind-catcher and the studied wind-catchers were directly connected to the space. In Kashan, earth ducts are part of the wind-catcher system. But there are few researches conducted on the integration of wind-catcher with the earth ducts system and its effects on the mean indoor air temperature. Therefore, in this study, the effect of four-way wind-catcher system integrated to earth ducts on the mean temperature of the basement (Sardab) was analyzed by the CFD software.
