Architipai Studio nominated for the Best Project of Public Building or Facility at the Golden Trezzini Awards

Architipai studio announced that it has been nominated for the Best Project of Public Building or Facility at the Third International Golden Trezzini Awards. Hailed as the “Architectural Oscar” by the Russia-1 Television Channel, the Golden Trezzini Awards are the only competition for architecture and design where the winning projects are taken into a state museum’s collection. The best projects by competitors are added to the collection of the Architectural Graphics Fund at the Museum of St. Petersburg History and take part in an annual exhibition at the Peter and Paul Fortress.

Golden Trezzini Awards Jury Panel, which nominates and selects 2020 Winners, is comprised of directors of a number of leading art museums such as the State Hermitage, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Mauritshuis, and many other world-renowned museums of the USA, Italy, Germany, Austria, Sweden, and Finland. The Awards Jury includes more than 180 top-tier experts, representing 29 countries. The Honorary Chairman of the International Council of the Awards is Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage.

As a nominee, Architipai studio is also eligible to win a Premio del Pubblico Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. From now till November 5th, Architipai studio fans can cast their votes at https://goldtrezzini.ru/en/nominees/orthodox-church-en/.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, and honored at the Ceremony which will take place at Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, St Petersburg.

About the project

A church as a building is a reflection of its age, as well as the society’s mentality and culture. Moreover, it features technology, economy, and politics development levels.

It is expedient to build new churches only after the heritage resources have been used completely, i. e., as soon as all the once constructed churches have been restored and put into operation.

Empty churches should be taken to wherever they are needed, either entirely or in pieces. New churches must only be built in accordance with up-to-date aesthetical principles, at the same time following the age-old traditions.

Hailed as the “Architectural Oscar” by the Russia-1 Television Channel, The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design is named after Domenico Trezzini (1670—1734), Russian architect of Swiss origin, the first architect of St. Petersburg, author of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, Twelve Collegia Building and other masterpieces of Petrine Baroque.
