Best Implemented Adaptation Project of a Cultural Heritage Site
About the project (provided by the applicant) Built at the end of the 19th century, the building was the home of merchant Andrey Blum. The project involved adapting this locally (municipally) significant cultural heritage site with a façade restoration. A mansard with a corner tower was added, giving the building a new appearance. The increased volume responds to the challenges of the changed urban context. Modern elements integrated into the historical building add new meanings to the intersection and highlight historical artifacts.
Chief architect of the project, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Institute of URBAS, SSTU named after Y.A. Gagarin; Director of NPC “Urbanproject”, SSTU named after Y.A. Gagarin.
