About the project (provided by the applicant) The site is located on Galerny Island and opens onto the Neva River embankment, which determined the height of the volumes and gave the building its distinctive, accentuated silhouette. The complex is designed in the shape of a ring, creating a wind-protected square in front of the church. In the Bible, the circle is one of the most significant symbols, representing Eternity, Infinity, and Unity.
The form of the tent-roofed church is simplified: instead of the traditional hexagonal or octagonal base, it begins with a square that gradually transforms into a circle toward the top. This geometry is echoed by the smaller baptismal volume and the complex roofing of the other parts of the ensemble, forming an expressive silhouette. The roof is clad with shingles (lemeh), a material that references the traditions of Russian ecclesiastical architecture.
