About the project
The project fits in with the general development plan for the Karpovka Embankment. The library is intended to become a small and quiet oasis for its visitors, a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the city with a comfortable and stimulating atmosphere. The library’s new design features the traditional northern modern style, combining a discreet background with bright elements. The close vicinity of the river prompted the designer to use a wide variety of materials, including wood, shiny metal, plants, and water, as well as media such as colored light and natural sounds. In the lobby, there is a mural depicting the Karpovka Embankment. In addition, the library now boasts a well-equipped lecture hall, a cozy co-working space, and a quest room.
