Project Reconstruction (Recreation) of the Historic Cast-Iron and Copper Foundry Building Adapted for a Kindergarten for 110 Children
Best Implemented Reconstruction Project
About the project (provided by the applicant) The project represents the recreation of a building that, at the time of design, was in an emergency condition — a former cast-iron and copper foundry constructed in the late 19th century and significantly rebuilt during the Soviet period. Since most of the architectural features of the building had been lost, the design was based on the existing building’s plan outline as well as the dimensions of the arched windows on the ground floor preserved from the original construction. The architectural solutions of the second floor, roofs, and decorative elements form a collective image inspired by preserved historic industrial buildings of the same period located along Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue.
