The design project involves the renovation of a regional cultural heritage site — the substation of the “Krasnoye Znamya” factory, originally designed by architect Erich Mendelsohn. The goal is to create an arts school within the building for education and creative development of the younger generation.
The planning solution for the four-story building is based on mixed zoning, which clearly separates spaces by function. The loft-style building includes:
The interior concept draws on avant-garde stylistics, integrated into the loft environment of the industrial building. It also incorporates reinterpreted images of Soviet Houses of Culture and works by avant-garde artists such as V. Tatlin, K. Malevich, A. Rodchenko, and E. Lissitzky.
